Apparently, there is a whole science to baking the perfect chocolate chip cookies, and through SOOO much trial and error, we have finally figured it out!

You’re welcome :)

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

-1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

- 3/4 cup of unsalted butter, room temperature *this is important, see notes below

- 1 egg

- 3/4 of brown sugar

-1/4 cup of white sugar

-2 cups of all-purpose flour

-2 teaspoons of cornstarch

-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

-1 teaspoon of baking soda

-a pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Add the butter and both sugars into a bowl and beat with a hand held mixer until all is combined. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and continue to beat.

2. In a second bowl, add flour, baking soda, cornstarch and salt, and mix together. Add the content from the first bowl, and beat slowly until combined. Lastly, add the chocolate chips and beat on low.

3. Cover the bowl and let chill in the fridge for at least an hour. This step is a huge game changer and makes all the difference so be sure not to skip this step.

4. After the cookie dough has chilled in the fridge, take it out and let it sit while you preheat the oven to 177C (350F).

5. Once the oven is preheated, roll the dough into balls.

6. Bake the cookies for 12 minutes until the cookies are puffy. When you take them out of the oven, let the cookies sit for 5 minutes on the pan. They will continue baking outside of the oven. After 5 minutes, move the cookies to a plate so that they can cool completely.

7. Enjoy!!!

Note

If you’re craving sweet- but not too sweet, just add 1/4 less sugar.

* if your butter isn’t room temperature, a fast way to get it there is to put 2 cups of water into the microwave for 2 minutes. Remove it from the microwave, and quickly put the butter into the microwave. Let it sit there for 10 minutes with the microwave off- the temperature inside will warm the butter.
