My Lavish Birthday at the Four Seasons Oahu (Hotel Review)

Nothing says happy birthday like a luxurious stay at a five star hotel on a tropical island. Lucky for me, that was exactly what I was in for during our stay at the Four Seasons Resort in Oahu at Ko Olina. Arriving at the Four Seasons was everything you would expect it to be. Picture a grand entranceway with pristine decor and a perfect view straight across to the ocean.

WATCH OUR HOTEL TOUR BELOW

The lobby is a sight to see in itself, with a towering courtyard and skylight overhead, revealing plenty of bright, modern suites. Stepping outside onto the expansive hotel balcony overlooking the pool and beach was another wow moment. This property has glamour written all over it. After a few minutes of exploring and ogling at the resort grounds, we couldn’t wait to check-in and see our suite!

OUR LUXURY OCEAN VIEW SUITE

Walking into our suite felt like a breath of fresh, island air. The room was incredibly spacious, with white and sand-coloured furniture, along with driftwood and wicker accents scattered throughout the suite. The decor gave the room such a calm, island feel. If the suite itself wasn’t enough to put us in full relaxation mode, the view certainly was. We spent our evenings gazing out over an unobstructed view of the sun setting over the ocean. If you’re looking for luxury, the Four Seasons never fails to deliver

FEEL RIGHT AT HOME WITH A WARM WELCOME

One of the most noteworthy moments during our vacation was a gift that was given to us from the lovely Four Seasons staff. When we arrived, we were presented with two jars that served as temporary housing for a couple of butterflies that were almost ready to burst out of their cocoons. This was through Paradise Monarch’s, and we recieved pamphlets that told us when our new friends were expected to hatch, and explained that we would be the ones to release them into the wild when they did. This was such a special, unique gift, and sure enough, we had the privilege of watching our butterflies spread their wings for the first time. This was an experience we will never forget.

YOU DON’T NEED TO CHECK THE WEATHER FORECAST: EVERYDAY IS SUNNY ON THE WEST COAST

Unlike our turbulent stay near Waikiki beach, the weather was nothing to worry about at the Four Seasons. This hotel is located on the west side of the island, where the weather is almost always sunny and perfect. Hawaii is known for its unpredictable weather patterns, but if you’re planning a short trip, this is an excellent part of Oahu to stay in and soak up the sunshine. The resort backs onto Ko Olina beach, which serves as your typical, paradisiacal Hawaiian scene.

THE INCREDIBLE RESTAURANTS AT THE FOUR SEASONS OAHU

On-site at the Four Seasons, we were treated to the most decadent seafood dinner at Mina’s Fish House. Here you can enjoy a tiki vibe and sip cocktails out of recycled Spam tins (which are a lot more appetizing than they sound). The restaurant was created by celebrity chef, Michael Mina, and his traditional Hawaiian cuisine has certainly lived up to his reputation. We had some of the most phenomenal oysters, king crab legs, and other freshly caught gems that were hand picked by an in-house fish sommelier.

For an alternative dining experience, guests can also enjoy Noe, which is a top-rated Italian restaurant, also located on site at the Four Seasons. This restaurant features a beautiful garden patio and rivers running along the grounds where you can watch the koi fish swim downstream.

EXPERIENCING AN INCREDIBLE BIRTHDAY MASSAGE

Our couples massage was one of the highlights of our stay at the Four Seasons in Oahu. The spa center has been designed to make you feel as if you are in the middle of the jungle with an open air massage room that faces plenty of tropical plants and palm trees. The massage was absolutely glorious. What better way to kick off the birthday festivities?

WITH THREE POOLS AND A BEACH, YOU HAVE ENDLESS SWIMMING OPTIONS

If you love lounging by the water in a tropical setting, the Four Seasons is the perfect place for you. The resort has three gorgeous pools along with a relaxing hot tub that overlooks the beach. One of the most well known attributes of this unique resort is their infinity pool, which is the largest of its kind in Hawaii. The Four Seasons brings luxury straight to the guest by offering poolside bars and cabanas for rent. If you prefer to take a dip in the sea, the property is positioned alongside four lagoons with public coves that visitors can explore for free. The lagoons are protected by natural rock formations that keep the water calm at all times so that you can relax and float around from morning to night. This makes Ko Olina beach a super serene spot to enjoy the sun.

ACTIVITIES

During our stay, there was one bucket list item that we were both excited and nervous to tick off. We decided to take a helicopter ride across the island with a company called Rainbow Helicopters, where we got up close and personal with the remote, rugged landscape, and marvelled at a full, circular rainbow that gleamed overtop of the crystal clear ocean. It was an absolutely exhilarating experience, and we were so glad we got over our nerves so that we could take in the most breathtaking views of Hawaii!

Another memorable experience on the island was our haku photo op with a well-known floral artist who goes by the name of Ocean Dreamer. A haku is a hand-woven lei that you wear on your head as a flower crown. This tradition has been around since antiquity, and it is still a beautiful way to embrace the Hawaiian culture if you ever have a chance to visit. The artist treated me to a gorgeous flower petal bath and scenic garden backdrop where I got some of the most beautiful pictures. She also created the most stunning, personalized haku for me to wear.

If you’re looking for a luxury suite that offers nautical charm in keeping with Hawaiian traditions, the Four Seasons in Oahu is the perfect place to stay! I couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate my birthday this year.
