Exploring Niagara Falls in Style At the Sheraton Fallsview (Hotel Review)

Niagara Falls is a wonder of the world that is on almost every traveller’s bucket list. Lucky for us, we happen to live just a short drive away from this incredible natural site. The area has a special place in our heart as it was where we spent our first mini excursion as a couple. Naturally, we had to come back here to celebrate our second wedding anniversary! Our fellow Ontarians know that the best place to experience The Falls is with a stay at the iconic Sheraton Fallsview hotel.

The Sheraton Fallsview embodies everything that the Niagara region is known for. From epic views to award-winning spa services, this hotel is guaranteed to make your visit to Niagara a memorable one. If you’ve stayed at this hotel before, chances are you have not seen it quite like this. The Sheraton Fallsview recently underwent a complete makeover, giving the building a sleek, contemporary feel. Keep reading to hear all the details from our dreamy stay overlooking the falls.

WHERE TO STAY IN NIAGARA: THE CANADIAN CORNER SUITE AT THE SHERATON FALLSVIEW

During our stay at the Sheraton Fallsview, we got the chance to stay in the gorgeous, newly remodeled Canadian Corner Suite. The decor gave us an airy, modern feel with plenty of natural light and minimalist decor. Our accommodations offered an incredible vantage point overlooking both the American and Canadian sides of Niagara Falls. The suite is complete with four Juliette balconies, along with massive windows that give you a chance to marvel at the natural wonder from all angles. As if that wasn’t enough, we were also able to gaze out at the view with a glass of champagne in hand, from the comfort of our relaxing, oversized soaker tub.

WHERE TO EAT IN NIAGARA: THE NIAGARA CULINARY SCENE

When you stay in Niagara, you don’t have to stray far to find great dining and nightlife options. In fact, we had the most amazing Italian meal on-site at the Fallsview hotel. Massimo’s is a bustling Italian restaurant created by renowned Canadian chef, Massimo Capra. We were floored by how great the food was considering the location also boasts one of the best views in the city. The dining room is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows where you can take in the scenery over a glass of Italian wine and indulge in their delicious authentic Italian buffet. We made our way back up to the restaurant the following morning, where you can start your day with an equally delicious breakfast buffet.

The next stop on our mini culinary tour was Prime Steak House, which is located just a few steps away from the Fallsview hotel. This top-rated steakhouse sits high in the Crowne Plaza hotel, which is similarly positioned to give guests Instagram-worthy views of the falls. We loved the ice wine martini, the rib-eye steak, and the generous portions of the sides- especially the brussell sprouts and the lobster mac and cheese! Prime is the #1 restaurant in Niagara, which makes it perfect for a special night out. This was such a romantic setting to treat ourselves to a night of decadence on our anniversary!

Despite all the fine dining options in the area, you also have some great casual spots where you can find some pretty amazing food and drinks. Niagara happens to be one of the most celebrated regions in North America for craft beer and wine. As a beer lover, I couldn't leave without a stop at the Niagara Brewing Company for a flight of locally brewed beer.

On our last morning, we had an incredible in-room breakfast experience right on our balcony. Being able to enjoy our coffee and pancakes while overlooking The Falls has been a major bucket list item!

THINGS TO DO IN NIAGARA:

NIAGARA FALLS- THE MAIN EVENT

We, of course, can’t talk about Niagara Falls without discussing the site itself. As Canadians, we’ve visited the area several times over the years, but the view never fails to amaze us. As you walk alongside the waterfall, you can hear the incredible power of water rushing down to the river. You can also expect to get a little bit damp from the clouds of mist that engulf the area. The sheer scale of this natural wonder is truly mesmerizing, and difficult to capture in a photo. That being said, the expansive viewing points leave plenty of space for tourists to get some great pictures in front of the falls without fighting through crowds of people.

THE CHRISTIENNE FALLSVIEW SPA EXPERIENCE

When you stay in a luxurious hotel like the Fallsview, it’s always worth checking out one or two of the spa services on site. We were so glad we didn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the Christienne Fallsview Spa before we checked out, as it’s renowned as the #1 spa in Ontario. Clients can enjoy a manicure or pedicure while overlooking the falls, along with an extensive menu of additional spa services. The main attraction at the Christienne however, is their iconic infinity bathtub, where you can enjoy another breathtaking view of Niagara Falls.

CLIFTON HILL

What a lot of people don’t realize when they visit Niagara Falls for the first time, is that the town that leads down to the park is a one-of-a-kind attraction in and of itself. The main street is called Clifton Hill, which is located just a few steps from the Sheraton Fallsview hotel. Clifton Hill is essentially the Las Vegas strip of Canada, complete with haunted houses, arcades, wax museums, ferris wheels, and classic American chains like the Hard Rock Cafe. The whole street is decorated with flashy signs featuring lights, colours and music that will make you feel like a kid in a candy shop.

A STOP AT THE CASINO NIAGARA

Speaking of Vegas, Niagara Falls is well known as the place to go in Canada if you are looking to try your luck at a few casinos. If you’re a fan of gambling, you know that the Fallsview is one of the most famous casinos in North America. The casino is positioned right underneath the Sheraton Fallsview hotel, making it easy for guests to access. We didn’t spend much time gambling on this trip, but we were happy not to lose any money this time!

If you’re planning a visit to Niagara Falls, we highly recommend taking your trip to the next level by booking a stay at the Niagara Fallsview hotel. We couldn’t have wished for a better place to spend our anniversary!
